As you leave the metro area, the highway opens up to dramatic views of Howe Sound on your left, with its deep blue waters and forest-clad islands. The route continues north, passing by Shannon Falls and the towering granite face of the Stawamus Chief as you approach the town of Squamish.

The prime ski season at Whistler Blackcomb runs from late November through April. The Sea-to-Sky Highway is maintained year-round, but traveling between December and March offers the best chance for optimal snow conditions on the mountain.

BC Highway 99 is a mountain highway, and conditions can change quickly. From October 1 to March 31, all vehicles are legally required to have winter tires.
