Get to Know Mont Tremblant Resort

Mont Tremblant is more than just a mountain; it’s a destination steeped in history and brimming with activity. Its story begins in 1939 when American explorer Joe Ryan opened the Mont-Tremblant Lodge, establishing one of the first ski areas in North America. The resort underwent a massive transformation in the 1990s under Intrawest, which developed the iconic, colorful pedestrian village at the mountain’s base, modeled after traditional European alpine towns. Today, as part of the Alterra Mountain Company portfolio and a premier destination on the Ikon Pass, Tremblant continues to set the standard for east-coast skiing.

The resort boasts an impressive 755 acres of skiable terrain, ensuring there’s something for everyone. With a summit elevation of 2,871 feet and 102 trails, the variety is immense. The terrain is well-balanced: 22% is dedicated to beginners, 30% to intermediates, and a challenging 48% is marked for advanced and expert skiers. Fourteen modern lifts, including a high-speed gondola, efficiently move skiers up the mountain to access its four distinct faces, each offering a unique skiing experience and stunning views of the Laurentians.

Beyond the Slopes: Non-Skiing Fun
The excitement doesn’t stop when you unclip your skis. Tremblant is a winter wonderland with a huge range of activities. You can glide across the ice on the charming outdoor rink near the St-Bernard Chapel, go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing on marked trails, or get your adrenaline pumping with winter fat biking. For a unique experience, consider dog sledding or a guided snowmobile tour through the surrounding forests. If relaxation is more your speed, the nearby Scandinave Spa offers a peaceful escape with its outdoor hot baths and saunas set in a serene natural environment.

Après-Ski and Dining
The pedestrian village is the heart of Tremblant’s social scene. The après-ski culture is vibrant, with Le P’tit Caribou frequently named one of the best après-ski bars in the world. For a more relaxed vibe, La Forge Bistro-Bar & Grill offers a great deck with a fire pit overlooking the base of the mountain. Dining options are just as diverse, from quick and casual crepes to fine dining at restaurants like C’est La Vie. It’s the perfect place to refuel and recount the day’s adventures.
