History

Originally founded as a silver mining camp, Park City’s pivot to skiing began in 1963 when it opened as Treasure Mountain. Funded by United Park City Mines, it used mining tunnels and a hoist to transport skiers up the mountain. After decades of growth, a landmark development occurred in 2015 when Park City Mountain Resort merged with the adjacent Canyons Resort. This Vail Resorts-led expansion, connected by the Quicksilver Gondola, created the single largest ski and snowboard resort in the United States.
